Talk about things out of reach. I never thought I'd ever claim an {FTF} on a Virtual, but it happened this weekend!
Sunday found TaGeez and I on Grosse Ile - a lovely island in the Detroit River. Stan&Ruth were lucky enough to be
awarded a Virtual last summer and were hosting a
meet and greet to celebrate
its release.

Virtual Reward: Grosse Ile Depot GC7B63W |
Stan had campaigned to the local historical society for the right to place a Virtual on the Grosse Ile Historical Society grounds. The event was a joint celebration between the geocaching community and the historical society.

Freckles enjoying the event |
Good turnout, too. I counted approximately 29 attendees enjoying the tale swapping, TB discovering, and enjoying the society grounds.
With this esteemed crowd, Stan realized a Geocaching 101 lesson was not needed. Soon he gathered us around to share the good news: the event attendees were all eligible to claim FTF on the cache when it released! Stan calculates the reward was based on his high Favorited/low maintenance caches, and he wanted to thank the geocaching community.

Mazie and Freckles |
Although the group photo was proof-enough to claim the reward, we still grabbed his print-outs and set about to answer the qualifying questions... having a little fun along the way.
If you sign the register during open hours, you will be rewarded a small "commemorative collectible". Woo hoo!
After you visit the Virtual, cross the street and go down the stairs to the public beach. Lovely view.

The water is so high the approach is under water! |
