Geocaching adventures in the Great Lakes and beyond. I can't think of a more glorious way to spend a day then to put on my Wellies & my yellow rain slicker, toss my pack on my back, slip a camera in my pocket, and head off to parts unknown with my partner, TaGeez.

Big and Blue is Beautiful!
Seems like we have the Team Lareau seal of approval! We even scored one of his new path tags as a bonus! Woot!

Happy Easter, You Fools!
Today was no joke - I released two geocaches, and they couldn't be more different!
PLEASANT RIDGE WORMHOLE 2018
For the third year in a row, Team Gates pressed us into service to hide the annual April Fool's Wormhole cache! Wormholes puzzles are prevalent in Southeastern Michigan - when you access the geocache page, if you click the image (like the one below), you will navigate to the next puzzle in a series. Each of our wormholes features a specific city in the area.
I've had no finders to date.
Funny thing, though. See those Indians out front of Hedge's Wigwam? Years before I knew Hedge's ever existed, TaGeez and WikidKriket ran across one (Chief Pontiac) outside the delicious Clarkston Union and posed with it! Nice bonus to the cache page :)
Chief Pontiac with WikidKriket and TaGeez.
On the polar opposite side of the spectrum, this geocache isn't even hidden!
Yeppers! A Difficulty/Terrain 1/1 Large!
Not only that, but it's filled with stuff! As the sign says:
This is not a "trade even or trade up" geocache. This is a "take it if you can use it" cache!
This is how we recycle perfectly good stuff in Ferndale :) One man's trash....
Luckily, Tageez and I have really cool neighbors who will not only keep an eye on the house, but greet any new visitors to it.
We weren't sure how the new neighbor from the North would take strangers showing up to our porch, but, when we told him about it, his face lit it! "Oh, you do that? I just saw that episode on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit!" Hey, maybe we can corrupt him!
Happy Easter, everyone!
And don't let any fools get the best of you!

A Clever Cache: Large and Lovely
Ok, TaGeez and I stopped at an amazing new geocache, and I have to share!
You plop in a quarter (you get it back) and out pops a smiley! This beauty was filled with good swag, trackables, and even some geocoins to discover.
As someone mentioned online, I don't think I'm giving anything away since the CO clearly describes is in his write-up. However, at least for now, I'm going to keep all the specifics anonymous.
Let's just label this is someplace in Michigan...

The LARGE 1-0-0!
I finally did it! On our trip to Washington DC we stopped off at a WVTim cache for my 100th Large cache! Woo hoo! And that means I finally qualified for TaGeez's GEO-700 Club Challenge! You need 100 of each of the 7 sizes to qualify. I think when the challenge was first released I only had about 2 dozen.
| Look how far we had to go!?! |
It took several major trips over several years to grab them all. I LOVE this kind of challenge! So many memories while working to qualify for it. #BringBackChallenges
Thank you, TaGeez!

Big is Beautiful!
Ye of little faith or creativity....
I've been hearing a lot of bemoaning lately on podcasts or within the forum of the 'micro' trend. "All people do is hide micros and film canisters!". They whine because people no longer hide larges with excuses like "you can't hide larges in a city" or "there's no room because there are so many caches out there".

And with that... I chuckle. Above is a map of all the larges within the Metro Detroit area (it doesn't get any more urban than that!). Within a 10 mile radius of my house are over 2,300 caches (packed, I tell you!)! And look how many larges there are!
IT CAN BE DONE! Just ask my Sweetie. Although he's not the hider of all, a great many of these were hidden by TaGeez. That man has talent.

Over 3500 Finds!!!
Out on an adventure with TaGeez and didn't realize that I reached my 3500th milestone tonight!
It was the perfect night. If included grabbing some Halloween caches, finding a "Large" ammo can in a community garden, exploring the Nautical Mile in St Clair Shores, and finishing with some challenges in Roseville. Wonderful!
I'm so glad TaGeez was with me!
