At The Pier... Waving...

For those that have read my blog for awhile, you know that any time I'm quiet for a period of time I've been traveling. If you read yesterday's post, you know my recent adventure was in magnificent San Francisco!

In town for a work-related convention, I was itching to seek the Golden State's Treasures. Not knowing how much time I'd have, I compiled a list of Virtuals, highly-favorited caches and a webcam. I nabbed the At The Pier webcam GCMKWT the very first night!

The At The Pier webcam focuses on three famous Frisco destinations on Pier 39 - Fisherman's Wharf: the sea lions, Golden Gate Bridge, and Alcatraz. It's a popular camera - constantly being moved - which makes this adventure all the more difficult because you can't maneuver the camera from your phone. That's right - you have to do it the old-fashion way...  with a buddy's help.

You would think this would be a cakewalk with my other half home recuperating from surgery and sitting next to a computer 24/7, right? Nope. Just as I left for the trip our Internet went out. Aargh! Luckily I had a backup plan - my sister only extorted me a little.

If you get a chance for this webcam, do it. Of the dozen I've experienced this one has the clearest picture. You can find the instructions here:

Skip the overpriced souvenir shops - this was the best souvenir ever! Hopefully when you give it a go, the floating docks will be a little busier with barking sea mammals behind you!

At the Pier GCMKWT - webcam

I may have the opportunity to do a special webcam at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf – At The Pier GCMKWT featuring the sea lions of Pier 39.

After some experimenting, I’ve discovered that I can take a SUPER clear picture using the webcam using my iPhone.  However, if someone move’s the webcam, I can’t control it from my phone to move it back.

For my friends, here is a list of instructions to work the camera.

1. Click the link: http://www.pier39marina.com/the-sealions-at-pier39/

2. Scroll down to the bottom where the webcam displays.

3. Hover over the image – the Control button will appear. Click Control.

4. After you gain control, the Positions button will appear to the left. Click Positions.

5. Select K-Dock from the list.  Sometimes people can also be seen using Sea Lions - Left Front.

It should look like this.  If you see me, snap a picture.  If you don’t see me, let me know I’m not in the frame.  There’s a lag time between the moving of the camera and me seeing it on the iPhone.

I’ll let you know what happens!
