Man Eating Clam!

Again, another reason why I LOVE you geocaching - especially virtuals! The weird! The odd ball! The unknown! The unusual, historical locations you are drawn to.

This is BSW2010 at the Man Eating Clam!! Yikes!! virtual GCK9X7. I've lived and travelled Michigan for over 4 decades and never knew about this. What a hoot! I'm sure I'll stop one day.

Not Something You See Every Day

Man, I love creative signature items! Found this in one of TaGeez's caches.

Cache Hunter: Scrapcat

It's been a stressful time in the Richardson household so I decided to treat myself to another goodie.

This is Cache Hunter: Scrapcat!  This Lego fellow is going to accompany me to all my #geocaching15 quests this summer! Watch for pictures!

And he's trackable, too!

Flippin' the Switch

I'll be the first to admit that I was a little disappointed in the selection of geocoins for celebrating Geocaching's 15 years until I saw this!  Beautiful, isn't it?

Hard to tell from these pictures, but this is a large, heavy coin.  It takes up most of my palm.

SE Michigan Geocachers Rule!

Welcome to Detroit, CaptainMath!

Imagine the Road Trip Possibilities!

You might be a geocacher if... the Chevy Equinox commercials take on a new level of interest when your caching partner comments that the 4G LTE wifi can be used for more than kids watching movies in the back seat! Imagine the geocaching road trip possibilities!?!

Geocaching Road Trip 2015: FAVES

Today kicks off the first of the Geocaching Road Trip 2015!

Every two weeks you face a new quest to earn up to five special Road Trip souvenirs. If you complete all five, you earn a sixth special souvenir for your profile! You must complete these quests by September 2nd to qualify.

Your first quest is to find a cache with more than 10 Favorite Points! Great way to explore widely loved geocaches in your community.  They even have Spotify playlist to groove with!

Once you log it, the souvenir will appear on your account and on most of your mobile apps.

Make sure to upload pictures of your adventures and tag it with #Geocaching15 to share with millions of your closest geocaching friends.

Seems like the perfect way to kick off summer to me!

At the Pier GCMKWT - webcam

I may have the opportunity to do a special webcam at San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf – At The Pier GCMKWT featuring the sea lions of Pier 39.

After some experimenting, I’ve discovered that I can take a SUPER clear picture using the webcam using my iPhone.  However, if someone move’s the webcam, I can’t control it from my phone to move it back.

For my friends, here is a list of instructions to work the camera.

1. Click the link:

2. Scroll down to the bottom where the webcam displays.

3. Hover over the image – the Control button will appear. Click Control.

4. After you gain control, the Positions button will appear to the left. Click Positions.

5. Select K-Dock from the list.  Sometimes people can also be seen using Sea Lions - Left Front.

It should look like this.  If you see me, snap a picture.  If you don’t see me, let me know I’m not in the frame.  There’s a lag time between the moving of the camera and me seeing it on the iPhone.

I’ll let you know what happens!

Generation Nature

It arrived in the mail today! The latest free trackable collaboration - this time between and SeaWorld Kids.

If you find it in the wild, you're supposed to take a picture with it and something recycled, snap a selfie with an animal or take a family photo outside. Don't forget to tag it #GenerationNature

I'm taking it to California next so I can snap pictures of it with the Sea Lions at Fisherman's Wharf!

A Mood-Altering Experience

You might be a Geocacher if... this is a mood-altering experience after an extremely stressful week in your life!

The Multi U.S.M.C. GC5XDKA deserved more than 1 favorite point. And kinda fitting as I was a Marine wife for almost 12 years!

A Missouri Run - a Family Adventure

You know when you haven't heard from me in awhile it's because we're off on an adventure!

Just returned from Missouri with WikidKriket and PopLob for my niece's wedding.  Do you know what they have in Missouri besides my niece, Jack Stack's BBQ and an awful lot of humidity?  GEOCACHES!

I thought I'd share a few of my favorite pictures from our adventure!

What?  We are driving by a Virtual with 600 favorite points?!?! I've been trying to stop here for almost 20 years - this time we made it! Well.. sort of. Unfortunately, a swarm of happy baseball fans and plaza construction kept us from touching our goal! Kriket and I decided we're stopping again next year!

My first Missouri cache!
New souvenir
Hey, my brother's house is just up the road from one of the oldest active caches in the world?  Ok, we'll stop! Wonderful visit rushed by dark, stormy skies.

This oldie is mere miles from my brother's house!

And Kansas is just 2/10ths of a mile from Watts Mill?  I smell a new souvenir! And a cemetery to boot!

Nothing better to top off a day of adventure than meeting the family at Union Station in Kansas City.  Pictures under the clock, lunch at Harvey's, candy from the sweet shop and virtual outside!

Yes, the family was up for an adventure so they didn't mind that we swung up through the "City of North Kansas City" to Northmoor and a certain castle tower.  This cache was one of's "Geocaches of the Week"!  Big, big kudos to WikidKriket and Mike-the-Mechanic for ascending the tower stairs!

Kauffman Memorial Gardens is listed as one of the top destinations in Kansas City.  Kriket and I stopped to smell the flowers on our way to our niece's wedding.  We posed for pictures in our wedding best and kept clean while grabbing this virtual as my cache-a-day.

All pictures were taken with an iPhone 5.  Not bad, eh?

We reserved this special Virtual as the cache-a-day for the trip home.  Beautiful weather and so peaceful even though it's situated right next to I-70.

And, of course, being the proud aunt I am... I have to share a picture of the beautiful bride and handsome groom!
